Welcome to your Year 4 Maths Camping Challenge. - Year 4  Sacred Heart, Highgate

Going camping is hugely fun but can be very expensive for a family. Lots of things have to be thought about too.

Your task is to plan, budget (spend money wisely) and prepare your family for a one week camping trip somewhere in Western Australia.

Luckily I have given you $5000 to spend to purchase everything your family will need. Pretend you don't have any camping equipment.

Choose where you are going to go. Use the WA website provided to help you.

Use the Campinglist.net website to help you plan correctly and purchase all you will need. Think about the what is located at you camp site as you create your list. River, beach, bike tracks, toilets.. etc...

Purchase your camping gear from Anaconda. Remember that depending on where you go you might like to purchase fishing rods or a canoe/kayak or bikes for some family fun. Remember you have $5000 to spend

Use the learning sheet I give you to put in all you maths work including what you will buy and how much you have spent.

Round prices to the nearest tens our hundreds.

Use your new addition and subtraction strategies we have learnt this term for all your working out. No Calculators can be used.

Locate on a map of Western Australia (that I give you) where you will be going for your camping trip.

Write a short letter to your parents telling them where you are going, what you have bought with $5000 and what you will be doing for the week. You will take all you work for them to see when you have finished the challenge.
